BROW LIFT

Forehead Lift

A Brow Lift (sometimes called a Forehead Lift) is a surgical procedure used to raise the forehead in order to correct sagging brows and excess skin, alleviating heaviness above the eyes.

This procedure helps to correct issues with the forehead, eyebrows, and upper eyelids. Heavy brows will often worsen with age, causing headaches and ultimately affects the position of the eyelids.

Incision sites vary depending on patient anatomy, which will be discussed at your initial consultation.

BROW LIFT PROCEDURE BASICS

How long does the procedure take?

A Brow Lift typically takes 1 hour,. depending on the combination of additional procedures.

How long is the recovery process?

After staying in the recovery area for approximately 2 hours after the procedure, your designated responsible party will drive you home the same day where you will need to rest with little to no movement for 5-7 days.

How long can I expect swelling, bruising or discomfort after the procedure?

You can expect bruising around and below all of the incision points. Instructions are given to you ahead of surgery to help reduce bruising, but we typically expect bruising to last up to 2 weeks.

Swelling will peak at 3-5 days, and be largely resolved by 2 months post-op. Things to help with swelling include:

  • Constant ice application

  • Keeping the head elevated

  • Reducing activity levels

Some Brow Lifts require staples as opposed to stitches, which will be removed in-office either during your first or second post-op visit.

Common post-op sensations that should resolve by 7-14 days after the surgery include:

  • Discomfort at the surgical site

  • Itching

  • General tightness around the brow area

When Can I Begin Wearing Makeup?

You may begin wearing makeup after your first post-op appointment when the doctor has cleared you to begin wearing it, which is usually 7-10 days after surgery.

When Can I Return to Work?

Patients can typically return to work 1-2 weeks after the surgery. We recommend not lifting children or heavy items, and no exercising for the two weeks following surgery.

Am I too young
for a Brow Lift?

Age is not a determining factor for a brow lift - in fact, many of our patients who benefit from this procedure are young adults.

Anatomy is unique to every person and our doctors will always consider the whole individual in their opinions about the best options to achieve your goals.
